Senior Fairbairns 2025

News Dec 14, 2025

On a slightly less cold day than that of the Novices’ competition on Thursday, EBC put out 4 senior boats to take on the longest race on the Cam. The club ended the day with many strong performances including a win!

W1 put all their hard work from this term into a great performance that saw them round out the day 11th out of 27 college W1s. This result is thanks to the fantastic improvement in this crew this term, which will no doubt continue into next term!

The M1 IV+ found a strong rhythm early on and battled through to a strong 7th place out of 23 college IV+s, despite a last minute sub and other bumps in the road in the lead up to racing. The crew can take great pride in this result and build on it next term!

The W2 IV+ had a similarly gutsy row, fighting to an eventual 11th place of all the women’s IV+s (including W1 fours). A happy way to cap off a fun term of rowing!

Finally, it was the M2 8+ that took home the win by no less than 10 seconds in the M2 8+ category! This crew has gone from strength to strength throughout Mich and these rowers will no doubt be causing terror in the bumps order next term!

Finally, a huge thank you to all members who have returned to EBC to coach this term - it’s easy to discount Michaelmas as less important than Lents and Mays, but the coaching and motivation you’ve provided to our rowers and coxes this term will prove crucial building blocks for bumps later in the season. See you in Lent!
